Early spring rains and everything is finally greening up around here. While the neighbors were firing up their gas guzzlers this holiday weekend, we had a little help from our furry friends. Yes, that's Daisy in the background, and little ram lambs kept trying to run her off, feeling all big and bold until she turned and looked at them. Then they'd bounce back to mama with silly little jumps that put Pepe le Pew to shame.

Much better than lawnmowers. Silly question but do you eat the sheep? I have tried it once but did not like it. I would love to have some out grazing our pasture. Happy Easter!
We had to break out the lawnmower. The grass had just gotten too tall and we don't have enough animals yet. They did do a good job trimming around the fences though!
Popcorn lambs! Stick a couple of bales of straw out in the middle of the paddock and you'll have lots of fun watching them bounce up and down them. It's great when you've got, like, 10 of them out there all bouncing around.
Very cute!
Kim, we will be eating the male lambs—that was a big reason to get the sheep. Jim really likes a nice leg of lamb. I'm not all that fond of it, personally, but I think that has a lot to do with how it's cooked, so I'm open to liking ours. I love the goat, which really surprised me.
Christy, that's one advantage of the electric fences—keeping them in a smaller paddock helps direct their grazing. We're thinking of setting up a strip grazing rotation this year with the sheep following Bella. Of course each year we have plans for the rotational grazing, and each year they tend to go out the window during drought season.
Jenny, exactly! What a great description. They're so funny. We'll have to try the straw bale thing.
