CSA spread

Our harvests are beefing up a bit with the addition of summer produce. The fact that we've been upgraded to severe drought status notwithstanding, we've been able to eek out enough produce for some nice market bags each week. I could, of course, always wish for more, but objectively speaking, they've been good and people have been thrilled with the flavor.

Thanks Karl—that's reassuring to hear. Just to clarify: the share is listed on the blackboard photo, but the picture of the spread is about four shares, give or take some items that were picked right before the evening pick-ups arrived.

Was it the sweet olive tomatoes we had on our pizza? They were really good.

and I've forgotten, how much did you charge per week per share? Just to get an idea.

Yes, Christy, those were the sweet olives, and they are delicious, aren't they? Sorry, I let your email fall through the cracks—we've had visitors non-stop since you guys were here.

CG, we charged $10 per week for an annual share and $20 for a seasonal, and several of our members live in the D.C. metropolitan area. So, I think we're definitely in line with organic produce available at Whole Foods stores, for instance. When I add up using that pricing as a comparison basis, I think people have definitely been getting at least $20 worth of herbs and vegetables, more on most weeks, especially when we've had specialty items like raspberries or potatoes. All of our weeks' listings can be found here: In this Week's Market Bag.

On a totally different note—what happened to your blog CG? I've been missing reading it.

Do you remember where you got the seeds? Seeds of Change doesn't seem to carry them.

Never mind, I found them at Johnny's seeds.
